aws_budweiser_black_crownIntroducing Budweiser Black Crown, a new golden amber lager based on … well, you.  A project that launched a year ago starting with 12 brewmasters and their recipes, and a vision of the world’s most recognized beer brewing a special and unique version.

Well they found their winner of “Project 12”, and will now be an available brand for purchase starting on Monday, January 21st.  It’s national stage announcement will take place in just a few weeks when the advertisement airs during Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, 2013.

Housing a blend of two-row caramel malt and four types of domestic hops, and finished on a bed of Beechwood chips for a smooth, balanced taste.  Budweiser incorporated their proprietary yeast directly from the original Budweiser yeast strain used by Adolphus Busch in 1876.

Budweiser Black Crown retains the characteristics of Budweiser with its clean taste and ease of drinking.  There is more body, color, and hop character than the flagship lager, and also has a slightly higher alcohol content at 6% ABV.

The creator was brewmaster Bryan Sullivan of Los Angeles and was everyone’s favorite among the 25,000+ adult drinkers who participated in the “Project 12” sampling.

Here’s what Budweiser says about it:

“It didn’t matter where in the United States we asked, this is the beer that consistently drew the best feedback, and overwhelmingly so.”

Budweiser Black Crown will be sold nationwide in 12-ounce bottles available in 6 Packs and 12 Packs and in 22-ounce single bottles, and the sales-to-retailers date is set for January 21, 2013 just prior to Super Bowl Sunday.

“Our research shows that after beer drinkers try Budweiser Black Crown, 84 percent would purchase it,” Scudieri said. “It stays true to the original Budweiser recipe but has its own unique take.  It’s flavorful, smooth and highly drinkable.”
