aws_monday_wine_list

So you heard about the “Weekly Deals & Steals” emails that launch on Monday morning?  That’s right, every week we will feature approximately 10 wines that have been reduced to our cost.  This means incredible savings for you, but don’t delay.  The pricing on these products is only good for one week until our next batch of products is announced.

We just appreciate keeping in touch, and our Email Newsletter Members receive this news first on Monday.  It’s our way of saying, “Thanks for giving us your email address”.   As you know we love to inform our customers any time there’s a great value, deal, savings opportunity, or promotion.

Temporarily, the email has directed you here to this page where we can elaborate more on the products, and provide any special notes, such as Limited Availability, News, Wine Tasting Notes, Food Pairings, etc.   In the near future the products will take you to the Product Page of each, where you’ll find these descriptions, and other notes.

Bodegas Borsao 2011$7.99
Deep ruby/purple color is followed by classic aromas of kirsch liqueur intermixed with raspberries, loamy soil and flowers. This medium to full-bodied wine possesses remarkable depth, an expansive texture and wonderful freshness as well as purity. On taste alone, this beauty could easily sell for $30-50 a bottle. I don’t understand how anyone can make wines this good to sell at this price, but somehow importer Jorge Ordonez finds them. 90 Points – Robert Parker – Wine Advocate

Rio Madre Graciano Rioja – $9.99
Exhibits slightly riper blackberry fruit intermixed with notions of licorice, wood smoke, camphor and a vivid floral display. These cuvees are aged in French oak prior to bottling. Both should drink well for 2-5 years.  91 Points – Robert Parker – Wine Advocate

Bodegas Avante Tineta Ribera Del Duero 2011 – $13.99
It reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as copious notes of creme de cassis intermixed with hints of wood smoke and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied, juicy, succulent and sensual, it should drink nicely for 3-4 years.  91 Points – Robert Parker – Wine Advocate

La Cartuja Priorat 2011 – $15.99
Aged for eight months in 50% new and 50% used French oak. The wine possesses phenomenal minerality along with notes of crushed rocks/wet steel, graphite, blueberries and raspberries, medium to full-bodied flavors, and sensational purity, texture and length. It should drink nicely for a decade or more.  93 Points – Robert Parker – Wine Advocate

Antinori Tiganello 2009 – $79.99
The 2009 Tignanello is quite beautiful. Cedar, graphite, sweet herbs, licorice and leather add complexity to a core of highly expressive red fruits. The 2009 impresses for its energy, drive and focus.  94 Points – Robert Parker – Wine Advocate

Montes Leyda Sauvignon Blanc 2011 – $14.99
Refreshingly crisp, sparkling, soft and sumptuous, showing great complexity, very fresh and crispy with a nice structure at mid palate showing tropical fruits, peaches, pineapples and citric accents. A powerful coastal climate Sauvignon Blanc with an impressive overall freshness and elegant minerality and a long finish.

Ampakama Syrah 2009 – $8.99
Juicy red-berry flavors fueled with a respectable amount of black pepper and herbal spices.  Moderate and smooth finish, though not overly noted.  Pairs well with anything off the grill, or whatever else might be cooking.

Santa Ema Reserve Merlot 2008 – $9.99
Deep violet-ruby-red color. Very fruity wine with aromas of plums, blackberries, and black currant, accompanied by intense notes of caramel, chocolate, and vanilla. Soft, ripe tannins lend good structure and balance.  90 Points – Robert Parker – Wine Advocate

Vinos Torremoron Tempranillo 2011 – $9.00
The fresh, red berried, mineral character of Ribera shows through, with a slightly spicy, minty note. This is one of only a few Ribera wines where you can taste the “cut” and chewy, juicy Tempranillo flavors unburdened by oak. A crisp fruited wine with structure and substance, it’s neither light nor unduly heavy.  92 Points – Robert Parker – Wine Advocate

Bodegas Tarima Monastrell 2011 – $8.99
This 100% Monastrell shows extraordinary expression, pairs well with fish, various meats, and cheeses.  From an area dominated by cooperatives, this full-bodied blockbuster boasts plenty of blue and black fruit notes, impressive purity and an enticing texture as well as length.  91 Points – Robert Parker – Wine Advocate
