Wine of the Week – Summer Staff Picks

Wine of the Week Wednesday!

June 18 , 2014

To All,

Beat the heat with some of Amity Wines’ great warm weather favorites. We’re going to back to a few items we shared in the past because they are just perfect for the weather we are having and the events that are taking place this time of year. Read on for details.

We have also finalized the details on the upcoming Artisnal & Craft Spirits Tasting Event which is listed below. This is going to be a very informative (and delicious) event with both mixed cocktails and direct poured spirits.

Thank you as always for the continued support and I look forward to hearing from you!!

– Jim

JP Chenet Brut and Rose 2012
Sale $9.99/bottle
Reg. $12.99/btl

Great for graduations, anniversaries, any occasion really for a great sparkler.

JP Chenet Brut – A fresh and fruity palate of fresh fruits, apricots and white peach.
Powerful, but well balanced. This wine is elegant and refined.

JP Chenet Rose – The combination of fine bubbles and delicate aromas makes this
a delightfully light and silky rosé. Aromas in the mouth evoke red berries, cherries, strawberries: mellow and well-balanced.

Les Rials Blanc Domaine de la Chanade 2013
Sale $8.99/bottle
Reg. $10.99/btl

Amity staff pick, great for the pool, beach, & just quaffin on the deck. Light, crisp, ready to roll! Our perennial best-selling summer white wine.

This off-dry wine has a floral, citrus-fruit aroma with flavors of tropical fruits and candied delicacies. It is medium weight and very refreshing, but it also has some noticeable mouth-feel due to its being barrel fermented and kept “Sur Lie” for more fruit flavors and a longer aftertaste.

This is a very popular summer wine for those in the know. We typically sell through a few hundred cases a year by August. Great to pair with summer sausages and pates as well as hearty salads and grilled fish or chicken.

Muga Rose 2013
Sale $11.99/bottle
Reg. $13.99/btl

Another Wine Staff favorite. Limited every year, great accompaniment to the grill, salads, and fresh fish!

Shades of salmon-pink evolving towards bright copper in the bulb. On the palate the three-way relationship of bitter-acid-sweet flavours makes the tasting a true joy, intense and long, very long, leaving excellent sensations in the aftertaste which make you want to come back for more. We end with a retronasal stage in which the notes described above are reversed, with the white blossom and fennel becoming dominant.
